I am Kristin Snyder Kash. I am an “Accidental Artist.”

I am a self proclaimed “Accidental Artist.”  I found my way back to the art I loved as a child when life’s plan took a detour. I have no doubt this was just part of the Lord's plan.

This is the story of how I found my way back to the creative place I loved as a child—by accident. Unless, of course, you believe things happen for a reason…and I do.

I’m a lifelong North Carolinian, a graduate of NC State University, and I spent more than a decade working in television.

In 2011, life took an unexpected turn. My daddy, a retired radiologist turned artist, passed away, and my mom was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s disease. She was only 68 years old. At the time, I was a full-time employee at a local TV station, a wife, a mother to my toddler son, and the proud owner of two four-legged canine kids. I felt like the rookie ringmaster of a circus. It was time to pivot.

As I stepped away from my career to help care for my mom and sort through a lifetime of memories in my parents’ home, I found myself returning again and again to Daddy’s basement studio, surrounded by new and unfinished canvases, brushes, and a lot of paint. I picked up a brush for the first time in 20 years. I had no idea I was about to become an “Accidental Artist.” What started as healing became a passion. Friends began asking to purchase my art, and commissions soon followed.

Over the next decade, my work found a home at Gallery 5 – For Your Convenience in Raleigh, where I not only built lasting friendships and became part of the art community but also had the privilege of supporting 10–15 community organizations each year through donations of my artwork for fundraising auctions. For all of these gifts, I will always be grateful to Julie Flournoy for believing in my work and to the wonderful collectors who supported me. When Julie retired and the gallery closed, House of Kash became my next chapter, making my artwork available to collectors through HouseofKash.com.

My hope is that every painting brings someone back to a favorite place, a cherished tradition, or a person they love. I don’t just paint places or objects—I paint the memories attached to them. If my artwork makes you smile every time you walk by it, then I’ve done exactly what I set out to do.

Looking back, I realize that life’s unexpected detours are often just temporary disguises while the Lord is orchestrating life’s greatest blessings.
