Kristin Snyder Kash. This is me.
An Accidental Artist. Finding my way back to the creative place I loved as a child by ”accident”… unless you believe things happen for a reason.…and I do!
A lifetime resident of North Carolina, I attended the same school, K-12, then graduated from NCSU, go Wolfpack. I sprinkled a few short jaunts to live in other places, but always returned to my “Raleighwood.” I am a lover of sunshine, summer, hot weather, laughter, dogs, family, friends, candy, painting, seashells, tennis and bright and happy colors, especially yellow. It’s a long story, but I’ll try summarize…
My years in the workplace started at CitySearch, (a start up internet media company, when no one one knew the difference between and email and a url). Next, I spent 11 years with WRAL-TV and WRAL.com working with community promotions and online marketing. So how did I end up an accidental artist? It all started in 2011 when my amazing daddy passed away. He was a retired radiologist, turned incredible artist. I was married to the love of my life, Greg, I had a four year old dynamo son, four dogs, a full time job, a broken heart as I just lost my daddy and now my young brilliant mother was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s and it was taking her mind faster than I could have imagined. Soon, I realized I needed to leave my full time job to spend my days with mom and keep her safe and happy. Unfortunately, Alzheimers is cruel and it proved impossible for me to be the support she needed. Then after some stressful days and nights, we made the decision to move mom to a memory care community and It was a rough going for few weeks, then like magic, she was active and happy and safe. Next step, I had a house to sort through. Immediately I was drawn to the basement studio full of canvases, paint and my daddy’s spirit. I began to paint and it was the escape I needed. Then someone mentioned my story and artwork to a special lady, Julie Flornouy at For Your Convenience- Gallery 5. it is a unique home décor and gift shop in Five Points in Raleigh. She offered to sell my works in her shop. I was so flattered and over the moon with excitement. That was the day I started House of Kash, home of an accidental artist.
It’s been an honor and pleasure to share the joy of bright and happy art with friends, both old and new, and to support community foundations with artwork for auctions. Needless to say, it has changed by life.
So today, I am an accidental artist, painting creative and colorful paintings. Landscapes, Seascapes, Landmarks, Animals, Abstracts and Photo Interpretations. My works are available at FYC -Gallery 5 and by commission.
